Mission Statement
Carnegie Art Cornerstones (Carnegie Art Museum Cornerstones) current mission is to promote creativity, learning and growth in the careers of artists, and to inspire passion and appreciation for arts and culture in Oxnard and Southern California.
Please donate to our Annual Fund Drive so Carnegie Art Cornerstones can remain vigilant in preserving the Carnegie Art Museum legacy and remain committed to supporting important art and artist development projects in our region.
Post COVID, Cornerstones has significantly cut its operating costs to the minimum, but we need your help to fund the work we do to promote the arts in our community.

Embarking in 2023 on the focus of advancing the career growth of artists and expanding appreciation for arts and culture in Oxnard and Southern California, Cornerstones is pleased to report:
- Our $25,000 contribution to aid the renovation of the McNish Gallery at Oxnard College helped provide new improved lighting and captured more exhibit space within the Gallery’s original foot print in order to increase student access to professional art
- We funded 2 art student scholarships through the Ventura College and CSUCI Foundations.
- Throughout 2023, Cornerstones has been organizing Emerging, a student art contest and exhibit, with cash awards to encourage the creativity of area college freshmen & sophomores, and high school students in the Oxnard and Ventura School Districts. Opening Reception on January 19, 2024 at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum.
- We have launched a public survey in response to the City of Oxnard’s proposal to not reopen the Carnegie as an Art Museum and not retain the Permanent Art Collection. We have voiced the need to preserve both as a rare cultural resource in the community, and presented the associated professional concerns to the overseeing City Committee.
