Renovated McNish Gallery Opens
Carnegie Art Cornerstone Board members saw the fruits of their support with the August 24 opening of the recently renovated of the McNish Gallery at Oxnard College.
It was an afternoon of art with the unveiling of a mural at the outdoor amphitheater and ribbon cutting for the new arts facilities at the Art + Design Building that culminated in an outdoor reception and the opening of an Alumni Art Exhibit in the gallery. Several of our CAM Studio Gallery artists were included in the exhibit. The exhibit runs through September 28. For more information and photos from the opening, click here. The Carnegie Art Cornerstones is excited to announce that our first ever Student Art Competition has been expanded to allow submissions from students in their freshman or sophomore year at Oxnard College, Ventura College, California Lutheran University and CSUCI, in addition to public school students in the 9th – 12th grades in the Oxnard Union High School and Ventura Unified school districts.
Seven cash prizes will be awarded at the opening exhibit reception Friday January 19, 2024 at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum. Young artists can visit our website for details and submission instructions. The Cornerstones will be accepting digital submissions September 6 – November 17, 2023. Read more...
